A fast-paced, one-day event for anyone who loves photography!

Start taking photos like the pros! Geared for high-school-aged beginner to intermediate photographers and perfect for homeschool families, this Photography Field Day is an educational field trip for exploring specific photography techniques in the classroom of creation!

What’s Covered

It doesn’t matter what camera you bring, you’ll leave with a new understanding of:

  • how to create beautiful background blur in your photos
  • how to photograph the unique sunburst effect
  • how to capture the professional silky water effect
  • 10 tips for making the most of your summer vacation with your camera
  • How to make sure your pictures are tack sharp, every time!

Tuition

Tuition does not include transportation, meals, housing or park fees. Tuition is non-refundable unless workshop is canceled.

  • $99 per photographer Early bird special: only $75 per photographer when you register by June 18!
  • Group Discount: $65 per photographer when you register as a group of 2 or more!

Schedule

  • Arrive to shoot the sunrise (optional)
  • 9:00am – Meet and greet
  • “Classroom” group instruction
  • Outdoor practice and one-on-one instruction
  • 11:00am – Break for lunch
  • “Classroom” group instruction
  • Outdoor exploration, practice and one-on-one instruction
  • 4:00pm – Break for dinner
  • Shoot the sunset (optional)

Prerequisites

  • Attendees under the age of 18 must attend with a guardian (Guardians may attend for free!)
  • Reasonable fitness level (for hiking and exploring!)

What to Bring

  • A camera. Any camera.
  • Any camera accessories you want
  • Camera bag (large enough to carry your gear, water or anything else you would take on short hikes throughout the day)
  • A tripod (optional)
  • Flashlight (in case we stay out long for sunset)
  • Sun protection and bug repellent (we’re going to be in the great outdoors)
  • A method of taking notes of the things you learn throughout the day
  • Comfortable outdoor footwear (waterproof hiking shoes recommended)
  • Guys: polos or colored t-shirts & durable pants such as jeans or cargo pants. Long pants recommended due to shooting environment.
  • Gals: loose-fitting tops with high necklines & skirts, culottes or pants of modest cut, fit and length. Durable, outdoor or recreational clothing recommended.
  • A plan for the day’s meals (see details below)

Meals

  • Breakfast – No time in the schedule is set aside for breakfast. Eat before you arrive.
  • Lunch – Take a break from 11:00 to noon. Find a quiet spot to munch a sack lunch, or run to the nearest town for some fast food.
  • Dinner – Same thing. Bring either a sack lunch or hit the town again. No snacks are provided.
