Nice shot! I like the back-lighting and sun-star! The water droplets add some interest also!
The shot looks to me like it’s slightly underexposed though, so I took the liberty of trying to fix it up for you a bit, just to see how I could try to improve it. I usually use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for all my image editing tasks, but I already had The Gimp opened, so I used that instead. I was just going to brighten it up a bit, but after brightening, it needed a little contrast and color boost, as well as some sharpening, so I got rather carried away! I also made it a tad warmer as it seemed just a little but “blue”. Anyway, I brushed up my Gimp editing skills, and hopefully improved the image a little. It may look a little overdone to some, as my two monitors show wildly different color/contrast, so you can always tone it back down a little.
I noticed also that it doesn’t seem to be “quite” in focus.
I don’t know if that could be helped or not, possibly the aperture setting of f/16 could have introduced some diffraction, but I don’t think a crop sensor camera should have much diffraction at only f/16. I think this picture would be acceptably sharp for screen viewing; unless I had seen the original, I would never have guessed that it was just a tad blurry. There are a few parts of it that are probably as sharp as they can get, so there may not have been much you could do about it anyway.

I agree re exposure looks too low…. I suggest a little tighter shot and increase exposure or add a little fill flash (1/16th power +/-) from the right side. Use a tripod and get it sharp.September 8, 2014 at 8:17 am #7440James StaddonKeymasterYes, a tighter crop by moving in closer, if your focus would allow. Zooming in would only make the sun star larger, which would be overpowering.
Sharpness has a lot to do with where you are focusing. Has everything to do with hyperfocal distance. And flowers are hard because they move around a lot, so a tripod would be great!
