Transportation
Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Workshop Location. However, airport runs to and from Anchorage International Airport (ANC) before and after the workshop may be available upon prearranged agreement. To check for availability or make a request, please contact James at [email protected] or 203-721-0363.
Lodging
Lodging is available at the Gilliland’s home for Sunday through Saturday nights on a first-come, first-served basis. While on-location and comfortable, accommodations will be cozy and close-quarters, perhaps as basic as a cot and sleeping bag. Sleeping arrangements for guys and girls will be separated. Please contact James at [email protected] or 203-721-0363 to ask for availability and submit a request. More spacious accommodations are available at your own expense at nearby hotels. Though not necessarily highly rated, the Microtel Inn & Suites and Eagle River Motel are possible lodging locations in the vicinity.
Meals
Wholesome, home-cooked meals will be provided for the majority of the workshop. Some meals may be taken at local restaurants near shooting destinations.
Clothing
Bring clothing for both warm and cool temperatures. Alaska weather is unpredictable! Average August temperatures in this part of Alaska are High 65, Low 45 and it may dip below freezing at high altitudes. We will be out before sunrise each morning which is the coldest part of the day, so please dress accordingly. Dress in layers and make sure to bring stuff to keep you and your gear dry in the field in case it rains. August is the beginning of the rainy season. For more details on what to bring, visit the CAPTURE Overall Details page.
